FLAC3D 9.0 is officially released

Posted 15/5/2023

Itasca Consulting Group (Itasca) has announced the release of FLAC3D v9, an advanced continuum modelling tool for solving the most challenging geotechnical problems in mining, civil, and energy engineering.

FLAC3D v9 is built upon a common framework to be leveraged by all future Itasca software products. Upcoming releases of 3DECFLAC2D, and PFC will all integrate into FLAC3D. In doing so, Itasca streamlines the work to model complex engineering models, reducing overhead and simplifying project management. The outcome is a powerful modelling suite that can simplify work across a wide range of engineering simulation. Now available for Windows and Linux.

Free Webinar: Crack development and propagation in clay soils and engineered barriers

Posted 11/10/2022

We invite you to join our free webinar on Tuesday 15th November at 14:00 GMT presenting the results from laboratory and in-situ tests monitoring the cracking induced through the drying of clay soil samples, investigating the factors controlling its initiation and propagation.

Crack development in clay soils has the potential to alter its thermal, hydraulic, physico-chemical and mechanical characteristics. This phenomenon has implications in the investigation of natural and farmed soils and also in the engineering use of clay and clay-like materials, such as mine tailings, clay barriers in landfill, road paving, shallow foundations and even in the analysis of planetary soils.
